Fred Papuga

Fred Papuga is a technology leader at Georgia Tech who combines deep technical expertise with proactive, steady leadership to strengthen institutional security. He oversees the reliable configuration and compliance of systems supporting more than 20,000 endpoints across the institute, a responsibility that demands precision, discipline, and a strong understanding of enterprise risk. Fred sets a high bar for accuracy and responsiveness, creating an environment where his team not only manages systems but continuously improves and fortifies them in service of the broader campus community.
He played a central role in designing and deploying Georgia Tech’s Computer Security Standards, a campus-wide policy that enhances operational security and reduces risk. This work reflects Fred’s ability to deliver solutions that are both strategic and practical, grounded in the real needs of the institution. Over more than two decades, his consistent leadership and technical judgment have made him a trusted resource for his team and a foundational contributor to the resilience and reliability of Georgia Tech’s technology infrastructure.
